The 2014 midterms are fast approaching. The US has endured years of congressional gridlock, meaning proactive involvement by engaged voters has seldom been as important as now, when there is an opportunity to elect people who might work more than one-third of the year…and possibly even work to represent “we the people”!

Grassroots movements and associations have sprung up across the nation to energize and mobilize the electorate. We at Poligags happen to be fans of  The Young Turks – a news and commentary program which airs on YouTube on weekday afternoons. City by city, groups of fans have begun TYT Meetups – informal gatherings of like-minded people who can enjoy one another’s company and “talk shop”. In Chicago, where Poligags is located, a lively, active group is thriving. If you, too, happen to be in the area, you may want to visit the group’s Facebook page or Google group. If you’re not in Chicago, find or found a group in your area and stay energized in this important election year!

Many of the Chicago contingent are also volunteers for Wolf PAC. This organization consists of citizen volunteers who are appealing to their state legislators to call for a Constitutional Convention that will introduce a 28th Amendment to the US Constitution to end corporate personhood and publicly finance all elections. You can learn more about this by visiting http://www.wolf-pac.com/
